Preparing Your Home for Spring!

Published by Steven Weiland

Spring is finally here which means that you can finally turn off your heating system and might even need to turn on your air conditioning. Now that it’s getting warmer, it is a good time to start prepping your house for spring and even summer. At Heatmasters, your HVAC company in Chicago, we have some tips for you so your HVAC system runs smoothly, and you can enjoy spring!

Air Filters

We have told you this over and over again, and are here to tell you one more time, replace your air filters. Your air filters do a lot of the heavy work during spring by keeping pollen and dust out during allergy season.

Duct Cleaning/Sealing

In order to ensure easy breathing and better indoor air quality, we recommend scheduling a professional duct cleaning. This should be done at least every 5 years and during this time our experts can also check for any leaks in your duct work and can seal them. Proper sealing and insulating can improve the efficiency of your system by as much as 20 percent.

Clean Air Vents

You can turn on the highest setting and cool air will still not reach you if your vents are clogged. Even worse, whatever air that does get through will be full of dust and so will your air. Take a minute to vacuum, dust or even wash off your HVAC’s vent covers. This won’t take you long and you will be really surprised by the difference it makes.

If you want to be ahead of the game, spring is the perfect time to have your unit inspected by your HVAC company in Chicago, Heatmasters.
